What Is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a non-invasive and painless treatment that uses controlled cooling to reduce the appearance of cellulite. The treatment is most often performed on the thighs, buttocks, and abdomen, but can also be used on other areas of the body. The main goal of CoolSculpting is to reduce the appearance of cellulite by freezing the fat cells and destroying them. The treatment is non-invasive and painless, which means there are no risks of scars or other disfiguring marks.

How CoolSculpting Works

CoolSculpting technology targets and freezes fat cells underneath your skin—and then, once frozen, the cells die. Over time, your body recognizes that these cells are dead and naturally starts to remove them, leaving behind a more sculpted you. One treatment generally produces visible results, and more treatments can be added, as desired. Each CoolSculpting treatment session takes 25 minutes to an hour, depending on the area being treated.

What areas of the body can be treated with CoolSculpting?

CoolScupting is ideal for men and women who have stubborn pockets of fat, who are within 15 to 20 pounds of their ideal body weight, and who have a healthy diet and exercise routine. Treatment areas include:

  • Neck/double chin
  • Arms
  • Bra line
  • Upper and lower abdomen
  • Flanks/love handles
  • Inner and outer thighs

The Benefits of CoolSculpting

CoolScupting’s two primary benefits are:

  1. It removes an average of 25 to 40 percent of fat per treatment area—sometimes results are even more dramatic. Approximately 97 percent of patients will see results after just one treatment, and the best results will appear two to four months after treatment.
  2. CoolSculpting is painless and can be done on an outpatient basis. With minimal to no downtime, patients can resume their usual activities immediately following treatment.

Additional CoolSculpting Benefits Are:

  • Ability to treat multiple areas, including the stomach, thighs, flanks, upper arms, chin, and more!
  • Offers targeted fat reduction.
  • Costs less than surgery.
  • Lower risk than surgery.
  • No scarring or permanent markings.
  • It reduces resistant fat that is not going away from diet or exercise.

FAQ’s About CoolSculpting

In the following sections, we will answer some frequently asked questions about CoolSculpting.

How Was CoolSculpting Invented?

Coolsculpting is a scientific technology called, Cryolipolysis and was discovered by doctor Dieter Manstein, Ph.D., MD, and R.Rox Anderson, MD from the Wellman Center for Photomedicine located at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Drs. Anderson and Manstein, along with their team organized research that showed under carefully monitored laboratory conditions, subcutaneous fat cells are more vulnerable than tissues surrounding them to cold temperatures.

In the beginning, it was decided that long-term, controlled, cooling of local tissue could reduce selected fat cells along with subsequent loss of subcutaneous fat and not cause damage to the overlying skin. The discovery of this process is called, ‘selective cryolysis’ and brought us to the development of a patented, FDA approved, technology is now known as the non-invasive CoolSculpting treatment.

Will CoolSculpting Work for Me?

Coolsculpting won’t work if the fat layer is too thick. Coolsculpting is not a treatment for everyone. As appealing as it may sound, some patients won’t see changes unless they repeat the treatment several times in the same area. The best way to determine if CoolSculpting is for you is to schedule your free consultation with our team.

Is CoolSculpting Painful?

Since CoolSculpting is not surgery, the procedure is usually painless. In some individuals, CoolSculpting can be uncomfortable due to the cold sensation of the applicator against the skin. This discomfort typically lasts only a short time and subsides within one or two weeks after treatment.

Is CoolSculpting Safe?

CoolSculpting is non-invasive, and because of this is generally considered a very safe and effective procedure for reducing the appearance of cellulite. The majority of patients experience mild side effects such as redness, tingling, and numbness, which go away after a few days.

How Many CoolSculpting Treatments are Needed?

The number of treatments required will depend on the amount of fat, the size of the area being treated, how quickly you wish to see results, and your body’s unique reaction to the procedure. While every patient is different, most patients benefit from one to three sessions for each area of concern.

How Long Does It Take for CoolSculpting to Work?

CoolSculpting does not deliver immediate results. The full effects of CoolSculpting generally take about 4 to 6 weeks for maximum results. The more treatments you have, the quicker results will be seen.

What is the CoolSculpting Recovery Time After Treatment?

There is no downtime after the procedure, so patients can return to their normal routine. The treatment itself takes 25 minutes to an hour and requires little or no recovery time.

How Much Does CoolSculpting Cost?

CoolSculpting cost is dependent on a number of factors, like the total number of treatments required, the total area treated, and the time spent on treatments. Each client has different needs, different body types, and varying desired outcomes, so treatment plans and costs will also be unique.

Is CoolSculpting Permanent?

CoolSculpting is clinically proven to produce permanent results. Once the treated fat cells have been frozen through cryolipolysis, they die. The body’s natural reaction is to remove these dead fat cells through its natural elimination process. This is not temporary; the cells are permanently destroyed and eradicated from the body. Once these fat cells are gone, they are gone for good! Any area that receives treatment will have a permanent reduction in the number of fat cells.

What’s the Difference Between CoolSculpting and CoolSculpting Elite?

CoolSculpting Elite uses a new applicator design that better conforms to the body’s natural curves. This design provides up to an 18% larger cooling area and therefore, more fatty tissue is removed than traditional CoolSculpting. CoolSculpting Elite also comes with two applicators, allowing the treatment of two distinct body areas at once! This translates into more results with reduced treatment times.
