Nordlys™ Aesthetic & Dermatology

Why Nordlys™ Aesthetic & Dermatology?

What is an IPL photofacial?

The Ellipse IPL treatment rejuvenates your sun- damaged ski and makes it look clear and bright by delivering short bursts of light that directly target the blood vessels or melanin within your skin. Potentially harmful wavelengths are removed using patented Dual Mode Filtering. The remaining wavelengths are absorbed by the hemoglobin in your blood vessels- only the treated ones- and the melanin in your freckles, sun spots, and other pigmented lesions.

How IPL Photofacials Work

Ellipse IPL uses exclusive technology to target problem areas with very narrow light beams. Result: less heat on your skin and fewer treatments compared to other IPLs. IPL is a gentle, virtually painless treatment. The cooling mechanism and Selective waveband technology of the Ellipse Nordlys have a reputation for providing a more pleasant patient experience. Photorejuvenation can be provided anywhere on the body.

Who is a good candidate for IPL?

Patients with the following concerns:

  • Dark Spots
  • Freckles
  • Age Spots
  • Uneven Pigmentation
  • Redness
  • Port Wine Stains
  • Rosacea
  • Vascular Lesions
  • Telangiectasia

IPL photofacial treatments address a multitude of cosmetic enhancement options for the right candidate. Candidates for the treatment should not have open wounds, active infections, history of abnormal scarring, or tattoos in the treatment area to qualify. Photosensitive medications, spray tans/self-tanner, and sun exposure should be avoided throughout your series of treatments. A staff member at Gentle Aesthetics will evaluate your concerns and discuss your health history to determine if this or another treatment will provide you with optimal results in the safest manner.

What to expect from an Ellipse IPL

There is minimal discomfort and recovery after treatment with Nordlys Ellipse IPL™. You may notice sloughing or darkening of pigmented spots for a few days post treatment (longer if you are treating on the body). The number of treatments will depend on the area and nature of what you’re having treated and may also depend on your skin type. A customized treatment plan will be provided during your consultation. An at home skin regimen will be suggested to enhance the outcome of your results to maintain a healthy glow. Yearly maintenance of 1-3 treatments per year is suggested.

What is FRAX 1550

Frax 1550 provides non-invasive treatments that can help restore the smooth surface of skin. It helps fix irregularities such as wrinkles, scars and stretch marks. With Frax 1550’s cooling feature, the treatment is now safer and more comfortable for patients

How FRAX 1550 works

Frax 1550 is a highly efficient machine used for skin resurfacing. The device delivers fractional 1550nm laser technology, which is suitable for skin resurfacing.

The device delivers 1550nm laser energy into the dermal layer of skin. This does not cause any damage to the surface of skin, which is what happens with ablative procedures. Laser energy is delivered in columns, which create controlled damage to the targeted area. This allows for faster, even improvement of the dermal layer.

Who is a good candidate?

  • Patients with the following concerns
  • Skin texture, fine lines and wrinkles
  • Pink or purple striae (stretch marks)
  • Acne scars, ice-pick scars, rolling scars, boxcar scars, atrophic or hypertrophic scars
  • Surgical or trauma scars
  • Sun damage
  • Age spots
  • What to Expect

Your results will depend upon the type of issue you would like to improve, as well as the extent of your needs. While every patient reacts differently to FRAX 1550 treatment, most individuals can see significant improvement in skin tone and texture after a few sessions.

  • First 1-3 days skin may be pink/red, have swelling, and feel dry
  • Days 3 – 6: The redness and swelling should start to decrease, though your skin may still look a little dry. Use the suggested skincare regimen to help achieve the best and fastest healing process.
  • Day 7+: At this point, your skin might be a little pink and flaky. You can cover this with a mineral make-up or a tinted SPF.
  • You should avoid sun exposure for 30 days or use 50 SPF with a hat when outside.

What is Light & Bright

A combination of FRAX1550 & Ellipse IPL to rejuvenate sun-damages skin, reduce redness, lighten age spots and dark spots, and improve the texture of your skin.

How Light & Bright works

The Light & Bright treatment is a non-ablative treatment that works by delivering a combination of technologies designed to address surface level irregularities as well as affect the dermis, or middle layer of the skin. The FRAX 1550 technology rejuvenates the skin by delivering very small, controlled bursts of energy only to the area being treated to reduce textural irregularities. The heat produced, stimulates the dermis and the production of collagen. The Ellipse IPL technology refreshes the skin by using similar small, controlled bursts of light that directly target blood vessels or melanin within your skin, reducing coloring of age spots, freckles, redness and overall sun damage.

What to expect

  • First 3 days: Your skin will look red and possibly swollen. Your skin may appear dehydrated and become dry. To keep the skin healthy, you’ll want to stay hydrated and avoid itching. We will give you specific instructions and suggest a homecare regimen. *Redness may be covered with makeup the day after treatment if desired.
  • Days 3 – 6: The redness and swelling should start to decrease, though your skin may still look a little dry. Use the recommended skincare regimen offered by your provider to help achieve the best and fastest healing process.
  • Day 7+: At this point, your skin might be a little pink and flaky. You can cover this with a mineral make-up or a tinted SPF.
  • If you go outside, you’ll want to be careful about exposing your skin to the sun. Always wear your SPF and wear a wide-brimmed hat for ultimate protection.

Healing times may vary patient to patient. Please call the clinic with any concerns.

The results of Light & Bright are both immediate and progressive. Soon after the treatment, the surface of your skin will feel softer, look brighter and show more even tone. The next 3-6 months will bring more improvement as the deeper layers of the skin continue to heal. Brown spots can recur if you get excessive sun exposure.
